We had a study recently on the book of Thessalonians, when we got to Chapter 2, very serious issues came up and i felt i should provoke a discussion on this.
2thess2:11-12 “And for this reason God will send them a strong delusion that they should believe the lie that they may all be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness”
Could the present wave of deception and deceit in the church be God’s judgement on a church that has turned its back on the truth?
Have your say.

As far as standing in the truth is concerned, there is no middle ground. You are either fully with the Lord or not. When the tribe of Levi were faced with the option of condoning the acts that had been committed within the camp or slaying their own brethren – they chose the latter.
As difficult as it may be, one has to stand for all the truth or not at all – you either fully commit to the truth (all of it) or you’re on the sidelines with those who reject the truth of God’s Word. This is where the possibility of being open to deception comes in.
Kola,
I agree with you there is no middle ground when it comes to standing for the Word of God.
How sad it is however, that today people do not read and study the bible themselves. Many just accept what they have been taught and very often, sincerely, by their leaders without questioning or searching to see if these things are right and thus become victim of deception.
Today’s Church unfortunately sees herself as the best ever. You hear statements as “The greatest move of God is taken place at the moment”. With the gospel being preached like never before on television, Internet and other sources, one may be tempted to believe this is true, but the bible clearly shows otherwise.
Contrary to the believe that we are in the best times of the Church, i think this is probably the worst Church that has ever been. This is a Laodicean church that does not know it’s true state. She is so deceived that she doesn’t even recognise the letter as addressed to her.
Today’s Churches have turned into story telling, fun-seeking and prosperity teachings that pleases people rather than having God’s Word that transforms them into the image and likeness of Christ.
In 2 Tim 3:1-5, we are told in the last days, People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good and lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.
All these things play out into what we have coming out of today’s church. People’s mind are indirectly conditioned to these vices through this Laodicean machinery called ministry, and with people wanting to only see the greatest move of God without understanding the moves of our adversary, they fall prey to deception.
